Over the last few years our workshops and courses have become quite popular and fill up very quickly! In fact our upcoming 2025 (season 36) metal detecting courses are completely full, and we are currently running a waiting list for possible cancellations in 2025.
While we continue to offer our four-week Spring, Summer, and Fall metal detecting courses there is also a one-day 2 hour option! (Currently booked through February, 2005) These one-day workshops are targeted to specific brands that are most commonly requested by detectorists. If you would like to be placed on the extended schedule, please use the form below. All courses and workshops are limited to a maximum of 10 people with a minimum of 18 years of age.
As always, there is no need to be scheduled into a workshop if you are interested in purchasing a new metal detector and not sure which one will best fit your personal needs. We are happy to spend time with you answering questions, showing you all the options, and how to operate them. You do not need a metal detector to participate in a workshop or if you are new to metal detecting and wish complete a full course before deciding on what you might want to purchase.
How to register? Use the form below to receive a course syllabus and information on where to register. You may also inquire at our Murrells Inlet office during normal business hours.
Includes private online forums with anytime access to your instructor.
We have found many courses normally include folks that have been metal detecting for several years and still end up learning a lot more than believed they ever would have.
The curriculum structure will vary slightly with each workshop due to topic questions and discussions.
The group LMS Metal Detecting formed around the year 1989 in Central North Carolina, while largely traveling the western foothills of NC we could often be found in Virginia over long holiday weekends as well. In 1999 we became more focused on the coastal plains of Georgia and South Carolina, this was around the time when we coined the term “Road Trip”. These were the days we often spent more time driving than Metal Detecting. The relic hunting was good but it became clear we needed to expand our base. Two years later in 2001 we moved our main operations center to Pawleys Island, SC where we were more centrally located to our overall metal detecting sites from Florida up into West Virginia. Shortly thereafter we moved again to our nearby current location Murrells Inlet, SC. So our base location has changed a few times over the last 30 years, but rest assured if you have old mailers or business cards with the name LMS Metal Detecting you’re in the right place and we welcome your curiosity.
